Advice Services in the Local Community – Oasis Centre
The Oasis Centre offers a range of advice services to the local community, including independent support for debt and benefits-related issues.
Debt Advice An independent debt advice service is available to assist individuals struggling with unmanageable debt, regardless of the cause.
Benefits Assistance Support is provided to ensure individuals receive all entitled benefits and assistance is offered for appeals if necessary.
This includes:
Checking eligibility for benefits and conducting benefits checks
Assisting with benefit applications
Completing mandatory reconsiderations
Supporting with appeals and tribunals
The team has particular expertise in Personal Independence Payment claims, reconsiderations, and appeals, but also provides assistance with a wide range of benefit-related issues.
The benefits advice service is available through drop-in sessions (details to be announced after the reopening of the community space following building works) and one-on-one appointments.
To refer someone or make a self-referral, use the referral form at www.oasiswaterloo.org/referral. An advisor will reach out, though response times may vary based on demand and there may be a waiting list. Updates on the progress of referrals will be provided.
